Core Values

At Edge of the Woods, we strive to provide our customers with the safest and healthiest natural products on earth. Every product sold in our store is evaluated on its nutritional value, freshness, and taste. We take this as an important step in our ordering process because we strive to sell our customers only the best products available.

Edge of the Woods Market always takes customer suggestions and requests into consideration. We consider ourselves a retail representative for the people; our only job is to satisfy our customers.

We take pride in our friendly inviting atmosphere, polite knowledgeable staff, and low prices. Through low employee turnover, customer-employee relations grow over time creating a personal safe haven for our customers to shop in. The personal environment our store has obtained is a unique environment that larger corporations would struggle to achieve.

The organization makes every effort to educate our customers in many fields, including:

  1. Nutrition and wellbeing
  2. Natural and organic foods
  3. Environmental issues
  4. Atrocities in third world countries
  5. Homeopathic medicines, natural supplements, natural medicines, and natural vitamins
  6. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle

At Edge of the Woods, we deal with individual brokers on a one on one basis as well as large corporations to bring our customers the best quality food for the lowest possible prices. We also sell many products from smaller companies and corporations, sustaining small businesses throughout the New England area.

Edge of the Woods Market is concerned with the happiness of our employees. The store has currently set up a pension plan, annual wage increases, and performance based wage increases. Our staff is versatile and many work in numerous departments to ensure a smooth running organization. Customer satisfaction is our number one goal; therefore, a well-trained, happy, versatile staff is important for maintaining our customer relation program.

We strive to improve the community around us. Owner Peter Dodge is a board member of the Whaley Avenue Special Service District, which was set up to improve the Whaley Avenue business sector and to maintain positive business practices in the area. This committee was established to spur business growth in the area through projects to update and maintain Whaley Avenue for all customers and the community.

The company has taken numerous steps to reduce the amount of pollution created at the store. Currently we sell reusable bags and natural cleaning products, we use recycled products, and are developing a system to create our own natural compost from our kitchen, juice bar, bakery, produce and organic produce departments.

At Edge of the Woods Market, we believe in the development of third world countries. The store is funding two school systems in Haiti and one in the Dominican Republic. We supply them with food, educational supplies, medical supplies, building supplies and plans for making Haitian life easier and more sustainable. Outreach in these countries is limited and every day life is a constant struggle.

Our goal is to create capital through profits to ensure development, growth, affluence, and future opportunity for our employees. We make every effort to maintain job contentment and job security; a happy growing staff ensures future prosperity. Our future goal is to increase service work in Haiti and expand service projects to other third world countries in dire need of education and financial support. Making a difference in every person's life is an important standard upheld at our quaint vegetarian, natural, and organic foods market.

*If you have any suggestions or ideas for future growth opportunities please e-mail us and allow us to serve you. To make a difference in this world we all must do our part.

Thank You,
Edge of the Woods Management
