Following is a list of all the departments that are found at Edge of the Woods. Each department offers a wide variety of different products and specialty goods. Oven fresh, baked just right! Every day Edge of the Woods has a trained baker on staff to prepare the exquisite items baked fresh in this lovely department. This section uses organic kosher products, which in many cases are either vegan, gluten free, and/or dairy free. You can find an assortment of: cakes, cookies, pies, bars, muffins, coffee cakes, bagels, breads, special order babkas, special order challah, and many miscellaneous baked goods. Within the department is also a large assortment of kosher, fair-trade, organic coffee beans, a variety of which are shade grown (friendly to birds), and ground fresh for your enjoyment. One item that will satisfy any sweet tooth is our rich carrot cake. Come in today and you can be the judge!

Edge of the Woods Market offers a wide selection of pre-packaged bulk and loose bulk. Instead of buying already packaged bulk, we package it ourselves so that our costs are lower and we can sell items for less. Within the bulk department we also provide an assortment of specialty products such as a fresh ground peanut butter machine, and olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and honey dispensers, all of which allow you to select the quantity you would like to purchase. This department also provides a variety of fresh olives, dried tomatoes in oil, pesto, hearts of palm in oil, and artichokes in oil. Also offered is loose tea in multiple flavors.

Herbs can add a burst of flavor to any dish. At Edge of the Woods we offer a variety of over 425 bulk herbs, many of which are organically grown. Several of these herbs have medicinal purposes and can help support different parts of your body. Most of these herbs can also be useful for culinary purposes. One benefit of having these herbs in bulk is that you can purchase as little or as much as you would like. Also offered is a large amount of gourmet blends. From the basics that everyone knows and uses to the unique, harder to find herbs, Edge of the Woods has it all!

Edge of the Woods has an elegant selection of fresh cheeses. In our cheese case there is a section dedicated to cheeses that are dairy free and animal bi-product free, for those of us who have allergies to products containing milk and/or are vegan. A few of the more popular dairy free brands that we sell are: Follow your Heart block style vegan cheese, Tofutti soy cheese slices, Galaxy rice cheese slices, and Lisanatti Food Company's rice and almond cheeses. As for traditional cheeses, we offer a variety of different kinds, from the simple and common ones to the harder to find more unique varieties and brands.

At Edge of the Woods we provide a plentiful dairy department. Available in this department is a wide assortment of milks, eggs, refrigerated juices, butters, spreads, yogurts, dairy-free products, kefirs, non-animal meat substitutes, tofu's, kambuchas, and other food toppings. The eggs we sell are cage-free, organic, and contain omega three. The chickens that produce these eggs are treated better than other egg-laying chickens. Since we are a vegetarian health food store, we consider it important to sell only animal made products in which the animals producing the products are treated well. Caring about the animals that produce these eggs and milks is very important to us. For all those who are interested in meat substitute products, we offer a large selection from breakfast substitutes to lunchmeats. Edge of the Woods has it all! Some of our better selling products are our Kambuchas, made from a live culture, and our raw milk, which is made locally and in an animal friendly manner. Some other products include food toppings such as butters, butter substitutes, mayonnaise, Veganaise, whipped cream, whipped cream substitutes, and a variety of other toppings. Also offered are soy probiotics, goat's milk, Greek style yogurts, and other soy and rice made products for those who have an allergy to milk products.

Whether you buy them to adorn your kitchen table, or to remind someone you love them, flowers can brighten anyone's day. Noticing this, Edge of the Woods plants a variety of flowers in the front of our store. This is not only for our customer's happiness but also for the surrounding neighborhood. If we can brighten even one person's day than we have done our job. Edge of the Woods brings a large assortment of reasonably priced cut and potted flowers for the enjoyment of those we serve. Our store buyer personally makes seasonal trips to local flower farms to pick out potted perennial and annual flowers. Within the department there is also a large assortment of seasonal potted herbs. These herbs include: basil, parsley, dill, sage, cilantro, chive, lavender, arugula, tarragon, oregano, thyme, mint, rosemary, and mixed herb potted plants. These herbs not only look great in your window, but they are fantastic for fresh cooking. This is just one more way that Edge of the Woods brings the freshest products to our customers.

Whether it is a frozen meal on the go or a loaf of frozen bread Edge of the Woods offers a fully stocked frozen department! The store offers a variety of frozen meals from all over the world including: Indian, Mexican, Italian, and many more. Some other products offered within this department are: breakfast foods, dairy and gluten free foods, frozen fruits and vegetables, frozen deserts, and ice cream and ice cream substitutes.

Edge of the Woods understands that many people have trouble eating foods that contain wheat products and/or other forms of gluten products. Noticing this, the store decided to dedicate a section just to people with celiac disease whom are following a celiac diet. At Edge of the Woods we offer the best products for your body. The grocery department is our largest department. It contains a wide variety of natural and healthy products. Also offered is a wide variety of vegetarian frozen food, cold drinks, and specialty cheeses. The grocery department offers an assortment of organic and natural products. Our cosmetic department offers an expansive selection of natural and organic products that contain plant derived and chemical-free ingredients. We also have an extensive selection of fragrance-free products for individuals with sensitive skin. Animal testing is not done in any phase of product development for any of our items. We also include a varied selection of natural children's products such as chloride-free oral care. This department provides a wide variety of men's personal care products. In addition to personal care products we also carry bathing products and body accessories. Some examples of these include: bath and shower brushes, loofahs, sea sponges, pumice stones, nail and hairbrushes, and many more. For those who love freshly squeezed and blended juices; the juice bar offers an intriguing menu of organic juices and fruit smoothies. The base for the vegetable juice is usually carrot, while the base for our made fruit smoothies is apple. Other ingredients you can add to our vegetable juices include: spinach, beets, cucumber, ginger, celery, parsley, and kale. And for our fruit smoothies: strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, bananas, pineapple, spinach, orange juice, almond milk, yogurt, and agave nectar. A cup of our fresh juice can brighten up even the worst day.

If you like freshly prepared foods, Edge of the Woods is the place to be! Every day we have exquisite cooks preparing six or more vegetarian hot bar options. This self-serve buffet allows you to take as much or as little as you please. You can eat it on the go or you can sit and enjoy our dining area; we let you be the judge! This station also offers a twenty-three-item salad bar and a deli. The deli contains many pre-made meals and meal additives. We provide an assortment of options for your breakfast, lunch, or dinner: a hot bar, soups, salads, pre-made deli food, or our delicious sandwich bar. Organic is important! Edge of the Woods has a full organic produce section; the fruits, vegetables, and herbs within this section are grown without commercial pesticides or chemical fertilizer. Our organic produce is also grown in a sustainable way so that we, as humans, leave as little of a footprint as possible on the earth. Edge of the Woods has been the main supplier of organic produce in the New Haven community for over twenty years! We receive three to four shipments of fruit and vegetables a week, and many more when local crops are in season.

Farm fresh products for your enjoyment, Edge of the Woods goes through great lengths to ensure that the products sold within the store are as fresh as possible. Six days a week our buyer makes personal trips to different markets to ensure that the fruits, vegetables, and herbs being sold in the store are of the best quality and are the most fairly priced products around. When possible, our buyer also makes trips to local farms within the area to support local agriculture and local farmers.

Kosher Pizza:Pizza is only offered on Thursdays and Sundays. Eat in or take out, order in advance and we will have it ready for you!

A tasty delight made fresh for your enjoyment! The sandwich bar offers many different vegetarian kosher sandwiches and wraps. Order in advance or at the store; the sandwiches and wraps can be made grilled or cold, and can be ordered for takeout or sit in depending on your timeframe. Bon Apatite!

From A to Z and back to B, Edge of the Woods market offers a wide variety of natural and organic vitamins and homeopathic medicines. From health supplements to natural dieting supplements, the department offers a variety of products to meet our customers needs. Within the department is also an assortment of beauty aids and cosmetics that are animal friendly. Also, the department offers health related books, over four hundred natural bulk herbs and spices, many types of fragrant incense and Tibetan bells, Himalayan salt lamps, beeswax and soy wax candles, chimes, and many other gift ideas. The vitamins department also offers water filters for sinks and showers as well as the efficient and popular champion juicers. For the pleasure of our customers and their children, Edge of the Woods Market offers a glass case containing honeybees and bee comb so that you can see the inner workings of a bee hive. The hive is available for viewing from late spring into autumn.
